We loved having Adam Garcia for sketchXchange. It was rad to see his sketchbooks filled with an incredible amount of work, to-do lists and a sense of wonder. It was an evening of great conversation and a fantastic show-and-tell.
As a special treat, Adam set up a collaborative poster that participants attending drew on. He and intern Ryan Bush, will be silkscreening the exclusive poster for everyone who attended in the night’s sketchXchange. They also took a series of shot’s to be used in a stop motion video. We look forward to seeing the process come to life, and the final product.
Thank you Adam and everyone who joined us, it was an incredible evening!
You can see more photos here via Ethan Allen Smith. As always, thank you Robert Woodward for the great video!

If you’re a regular sketchXchange goer, you’ll know that Rory Phillips is one of our most faithful attendees. We were pretty excited when he agreed to be our August guest speaker. Rory made the event quite special by sharing his journey as an artists, and made us laugh with his charm and wit. He even made a special screen printed illustration for everyone who attended!
From his early childhood dreams of joining a gang—only so he could design their logo—to being in the Marines, we learned more about how design was always part of his life. Each life experience has made Rory the artist he is today and his story was very inspiring.
Rory, thanks again for an evening with a lot of heart, infused with your contagious energy and a dash of comedy.
Lastly, thank you all for coming and making it a great night of conversation and awesome sketching.
Enjoy the recap video from Robert Woodward and a gallery of photos by Ethan Allen Smith.
